It seems like this industry is increasingly expecting entrants and even those - like me - with a few years experience to offer slave labour, all in name of seeing your name in print. In my view, the recession is being used by many media outlets as a way to take advantage of those trying to get a food on the ladder, amazingly, even more than they were before. Doing shifts sounds all well and good but I am repeatedly finding nationals refuse to pay me for the shifts because they know how desperate people are for work right now. As a second year J-student I am obviously worried about the current job market and constantly trying to improve my web skills in a bid to improve my employability.
