Yesterday, I shared the bill with Paul Bradshaw on Radio New Zealand’s Mediawatch program.
Paul was discussing Jolly Journalists — of which I am one! — and I was interviewed about my trip here in New Zealand, but also about online journalism in general. I hate myself on the radio (don’t we all?) but I think the show’s a pretty good listen.
Click here to listen to the clip (Windows Media Player). Paul’s bit is 13 minutes in, and I’m on after that at about 19 minutes in.
Must point out this blog isn’t “award-winning” as Colin describes, although if anyone wants to give me an award… then you’re more than welcome

Hi Dave, I heard the interview on Mediawatch on Sunday night. You didn’t sound THAT bad on the radio =grin= There was a point you made that got me thinking. You said some thing along the lines of, journalism graduates who come out of training not knowing how to write for the web will not get jobs. Did I get that right? Well, here’s the thing. I studied journalism at one of the big journalism schools here in NZ two years ago. During the course, not one mention was made of writing for the web. I’ve been working for two years and again, not a mention has been made of writing for the web. One of our photographers has a passion for web design and new media but management is firmly resisting his efforts to drag our “website” into modern times. I say “website” because it’s a joke. Compared to, say, Britain do you think New Zealand newspapers and magazines – and our journalism schools – are behind the times in terms of going online?
Dave doesn’t know to write for any medium.
Like most young journos, he needs remedial training. Today’s journalism schools clearly are not doing their jobs.
Dave on radio, awesome!
Got to admit, I could not put the voice to your face… Got a new voice Dave?
Tesadüfen girdim buraya ama çok zevkli
